Well isn't this a bunch of BS
by Doctor Who inwell, our sister congregation just had their co visit this past week.
on saturday afternoon, i was talking to a couple of ministerial servants in that congregation and they stated that an unmarried brother is not fulfilling to the max what jehovah wants of us.
they stated that the co went on a tirade that if you are unmarried you are being selfish and not following what jehovah wanted for mankind since he created eve as a compliment for the man.

I just text an Elder from my congregation. He said there is NO way that can be true, they must of misheard something. I told him if it is true, I am "pissed." "No one has the power or authority to say if I am spiritual if I am married or not." He told me to calm down. -

Scully that is EXACTLY what I was thinking. It just doesn't make sense to me. I know there was a few rumors about me a few years ago because I told a very attractive (physically) that I wasn't attracted to her. She ended up married to a 'friend" of mine a year or so later and he now is separated from her. I just don't find 'spiritual' sisters attractive. Usually there is something wrong with them mentally.
But back to the topic, it sounds fishy to me. I know this CO. He is a loud mouth opinionated a$$hole. Every time he visits I hear the elders complain about him and what he is going to demand. I am just super curious about the truth in this. I think I might actually ask an elder friend later today.

I was like, WTF! I went on and said that maybe that is why Paul had all those problems! Jehovah wasn't happy with him. Those two zombies just nodded their heads in approval.
Now, I know they came to me because I am a vocal, happy single person. I have been known to make a sarcastic statement to brothers I know that are in a loveless marriage. But are they serious? Do you think the Society is going to try to push single brothers into marriage? In a way I can see this. In another, they may have just got the info all wrong. All I know is that we don't have his visit till the end of July. I was going to step down before then, but damn....I want to hear this first hand! LOL!!!

Captive virgins, polygamy and sex slaves: What marriage would look like if we actually followed the Bible
by Captain Schmideo2 ina friend linked this on his facebook page, sharing:http://www.rawstory.com/2015/06/captive-virgins-polygamy-and-sex-slaves-what-marriage-would-look-like-if-we-actually-followed-the-bible/one quote that stood out for me:"granted, sometimes even decent people do get sucked into a sort of text worship that i call bibliolatry, and bible worship can make a persons moral priorities as archaic and cruel as those of the iron age tribesmen who wrote the texts.
(i once listened, horrified, while a sweet, elderly pair of jehovahs witnesses rationalized the old testament slaughter of children with the same words nazis used to justify the slaughter of jewish babies.
)"

When are you guys going to learn that the old testament was fulfilled in the Christ. It is just used a reference. Only the new testament counts. Except when you need to condemn gays....or anything else you don't like. Sheesh! Get with the program.... -

Yeah, I think so. But this is how America works anymore. From one extreme to the other. No common sense anymore. -

The Confederate Flag
by Simon inthe latest controversy over the confederate flag just sums up to me the state of dysfunction that exists in american society.. in summary: a white supremacist nutter shoots 9 black people dead in a church.
he's clearly inspired by the messages of others which the confederate flag is often a symbol of.. it seems like a no-brainer to remove it.
not only isn't it removed, it isn't even lowered at all as a mark of respect.. and of course now there are the people who want to defend their right to have it.

Can I make it simple.....States should only fly the USA flag and the respective state flag. Why fly a flag that represents rebellion? I can see if it is flying at a Civil War battle field or something like that. -

About the flag not being lowered. Confused me why they didn't. This article which I copied and shortened sums up why...
But, it seemed, no one — particularly not South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) — could do anything about it. This was a matter of law.
“In South Carolina, the governor does not have legal authority to alter the flag,” a Haley spokesman told ABC on Thursday. “Only the General Assembly can do that.”
That seemed strange. On public property all across America — not just at state houses but at schools, libraries, DMVs and tollway plazas — flags are presumably raised and lowered without reference to or permission from legislative bodies.
But South Carolina has been fighting about its capitol’s Confederate flag for decades. Indeed, the flag first went up on the capitol dome in 1962 in defiance of the burgeoning civil rights movement. A cultural war fought a century after the first battle of Fort Sumter followed.
So, it seems legally they can't. Doesn't that just fly in the face of all logic?

Just a little history...
The Confederate States of America went through three different flags during the Civil War, but the battle flag wasn’t one of them. Instead, the flag that most people associate with the Confederacy was the battle flag of Gen. Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia.
Designed by the Confederate politician William Porcher Miles, the flag was rejected for use as the Confederacy’s official emblem, although it was incorporated into the two later flags as a canton. It only came to be the flag most prominently associated with the Confederacy after the South lost the war.
In the immediate aftermath of the Civil War, the battle flag was used mostly at veterans’ events and to commemorate fallen Confederate soldiers. The flag took on new associations in the 1940s, when it began to appear more frequently in contexts unrelated to the Civil War, such as University of Mississippi football games.
In 1948, the newly-formed segregationist Dixiecrat party adopted the flag as a symbol of resistance to the federal government. In the years that followed, the battle flag became an important part of segregationist symbolism, and was featured prominently on the 1956 redesign of Georgia’s state flag, a legislative decision that was likely at least partly a response to the Supreme Court’s decision to desegregate school two years earlier. The flag has also been used by the Ku Klux Klan, though it is not the Klan’s official flag.
